The girlfriend of a man found stabbed to death in Gadsden on Friday afternoon has been arrested and charged with murder.
According to information contained in a news release from the Gadsden Police Department, both police officers and medics responded to an assault call, at around 3:00pm at #9 Dwight Avenue – and inside the home they found 52 year old Robert Culverson dead on the kitchen floor suffering from a single stab wound to the chest.
Officers said they were met on the front porch of the home by two neighbors who informed them that the victim’s girlfriend, Peggy Martin had come to their home next door asking them to check on Culverson – because she had stabbed him.
Martin was arrested at the scene and transported to the Etowah County Detention Center – where she is currently being held on a cash bond of $100,000.
Culverson’s body has been sent to Huntsville for an autopsy.
The incident remains under investigation.
