Good News! Flood Waters Beginning To Recede On Weiss Lake, Lake Level Down Four Inches In 24 Hours

28The Flood Warning continues for the Coosa River at Weiss Dam until Wednesday morning or until the Warning is cancelled.

There is some good news though! The lake level has dropped 4inches in the last 24 hours and there is no sign of rain in the forecast until next Thursday.

As of 8:00 Friday morning, the stage Was 568.2 feet. Flood Stage is 567 feet. The river will continue to fall to below Flood Stage by Tuesday evening and it appears the lake reached its crest on Thursday at 568ft.6inches

Alabama Power is operating all three turbines at the Dam and pushing 24,680cfs.

The Alabama Department of Public Health is warning residents who use an onsite sewage disposal system (septic tank system) they may be experiencing performance problems due to these rain-soaked conditions.
