Goolsby earns silver for Sand Rock in Class 2A 110-meter hurdles

CULLMAN – Sand Rock senior Magnus Goolsby claimed a silver medal in the Class 2A boys 110 meter hurdles at the state track and field meet in Cullman over the weekend. His time was 17.14 seconds.

Goolsby also came in sixth in the triple jump (39-05.25) and 15th in the long jump (18-06.00). He was also part of the Wildcats’ 4×400 meter relay team that finished 11th with a time of 3:50.10. The other members are Jack Watson, Ben Bruce and Hunter Privett.

Privett also placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.17). Watson was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (43.34) and 11th in the 400 meter dash (54.88).

Brylaina Holcomb earned fourth place in the girls javelin (109-02). She also came in 19th in the long jump (13-01.00).

The Lady Wildcats’ 4×800 meter relay team took seventh with a time of 11:49.73. Team members are Samantha Carr, Maci Brown, Christy Alred and Ensley Callantine. Sand Rock’s girls were also ninth in the 4×400 meter relay after posting a time of 4:52.63. The team is comprised of Brooklyn Broome, Brown, KoKo Graham and Zoey Handy.

Bryan East came in ninth in the boys javelin (124-09). He was also 11th in the discus (107-09).

Gunner Cox came in 15th in the boys 300 meter hurdles (49.59).

Carr claimed 16th in the girls 800 meter run (2:44.28). She was also 23rd in the 1600 meter run (6:22.62).

Callantine claimed 19th in the girls 800 meter run (2:49.13). Handy took 20th in the girls long jump (12-10.50). Bruce was 21st in the boys 800 meter run (2:24.70) and Graham finished 23rd in the girls 400 meter dash (1:11.05).

The Wildcat boys were 11th overall in the team standings with 21 points. Westminster of Oak Mountain won the boys meet with 96 points. The Lady Wildcats were 17th overall with seven points. Altamont won the girls meet with 148 points.
