Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley announced Thursday afternoon he is terminating all state funding to Planned Parenthood.

This announcement comes after a controversial video was released accusing Planned Parenthood of selling fetal body parts.

Bentley sent a letter to Planned Parenthood Southeast CEO Staci Fox informing her of the decision to end the agreement between Alabama Medicaid and Planned Parenthood Southeast Thursday. The termination will go into effect in 15 days.

“The deplorable practices at Planned Parenthood have been exposed to Americans, and I have decided to stop any association with the organization in Alabama,” Bentley said in a statement. “As a doctor and Alabama’s Governor, the issue of human life, from conception to birth and beyond, is extremely important. I respect human life and do not want Alabama to be associated with an organization that does not.”

According to the governor’s letter, Planned Parenthood Southeast can request a hearing with Alabama Medicaid.
