Governor Robert Bentley recently announced the reappointment of Senator Gerald Dial (R-Lineville) to the Armory Commission of Alabama. The appointment of Dial is one of three Governor Bentley has to the nine-person board. His term of service on the Commission is six years and will expire August 3, 2020. The mandated function of the commission is to acquire and maintain the necessary real estate, building, and training sites in which to house and train the Alabama National Guard.
“I can not thank Governor Bentley enough for this renewed opportunity,” Senator Dial said. “After retiring from actively serving in the Alabama National Guard, it is a blessing to continue serving our state’s Military Department in some capacity. It is my goal to ensure we make the most of the resources provided to us by the taxpayers of Alabama.”
The Armory Commission of Alabama was established in 1935 as the corporate arm of the State Military Department that acquires, owns, and manages all buildings and facilities of the Alabama National Guard.
“So many fine men and women serve in the Alabama National Guard, performing duties at home and abroad to keep us safe. They and their families make tremendous sacrifices, sometimes even the ultimate sacrifice. The least we can do is be good stewards of the resources we have to house, train, and support those dedicated individuals, and that is exactly what I will do during my term on the Armory Commission of Alabama,” concluded Senator Dial.
Gerald Dial, a Brigadier General (Retired) in the Alabama National Guard, represents District 13 in the Alabama State Senate, which includes all or parts of Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Lee, and Randolph Counties. In 2011, Senator Dial was appointed Majority Whip by the Senate Majority Leader Jabo Waggoner. Gerald’s abilities and seniority have resulted in more roads projects, new businesses and opportunities for East Alabama than comparable first-term legislators. Dial is Chairman of the Senate Local Legislation #1 Committee. Senator Dial and his wife, Faye, live in Lineville.
