Governor Ivey Extends “Mask Order” and Urges Schools to Return to “In Classroom” Learning

 

Governor Kay Ivey announced today (Wednesday, July 29th) that the state’s Mask Order, in place since mid-July, will be extended through August 31st at 5:00pm.

The order, designed to slow the spread of coronavirus, was set to expire at the end of July.

Ivey encouraged schools to move ahead with phased openings of in-classroom learning.

The governor then issued a “challenge” to those involved in the education system

 

Governor Ivey Issues Amended Safer at Home Order

MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday issued her fifteenth supplemental emergency proclamation containing an amended Safer at Home Order that includes a statewide mask requirement. Individuals will be required to wear a mask or other facial covering when in public and in close contact with other people, as described in the order. This amended order extends until August 31, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
