Governor Kay Ivey Extends “Mask Order” through March 5th

Alabama’s “Mask Order” has been extended by Governor Kay Ivey.

That order, requiring people to wear a facial covering when within six feet of someone, has been extended to March 5th at 5:00pm.  Masks are also required in schools and colleges for employees and students in second grade and above.

All other provisions of the health order remain the same – allowing entertainment venues, gyms, child care, beauty and barber shops, summer camps and retail stores to be open, BUT subject to social-distancing and sanitation rules.

The health order was first instituted in July as COVID numbers were growing, and has been extended several times.  As of today (Thursday, January 21st, 2021), Alabama has recorded 432,536 cases of COVID-19 with 6,379 deaths.

The current order was set to expire this Friday at 5:00pm.
