Harris Furniture Back in Business on the Bypass

HF 9The original Harris Furniture business is back on the bypass in Centre!

Don and Barbara Harris are back in the location on the Chesnut Bypass offering new home furnishings and a terrific selection of timeless antiques – not to mention unusual pieces that you’d never expect to find in a traditional furniture store. Among those items currently on display you’ll find what is referred to as a “cabin table” – which converts from a table into a chair, an all-metal tricycle and more.

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce recently held an official ribbon cutting for the re-opening of the store, and afterwards we spoke with Don Harris about the history behind Harris Furniture, his time away while in the auction business and the recent return of both he and his wife to the location.

Don and Barbara purchased the business roughly ten years ago – selling it around five years after that – and last summer, they discussed the idea of bringing it back as it was before and moved forward.

The couple’s time in the auction business was well-spent as they gathered up a collection of unique items from around the country, or as Don calls it “the good, the bad and the ugly.”

Don is a also certified appraiser who got the “bug” many years ago while he was working as an insurance salesman – taking note of items of interest in the homes of clients and friends,

Not only will you be surprised by the incredible variety offered, but you’ll be amazed at just how much they have in stock; in addition to their floor rooms – they have additional storage space filled with merchandise ready to move in as soon as space is available.

A visit to the store is more than just a shopping trip it’s an opportunity to do business with owners that are really there, and are truly a pleasure to meet.
