Helen Cobia

Helen Cobia, 86, of Gadsden, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2020. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020, 11:30a.m., at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Word will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is In charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cobia was an Alumni of Jacksonville State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She taught school at both Carlisle Elementary and Gaston. Helen was a faithful member at James Memorial Baptist Church. She was a beautiful soul both inside and out. Her life was lived will dignity and grace. Helen’s family were her pride and joy, but above all she loved the Lord!

Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. W.A. Cobia; parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.F. St. Clair; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson St. Clair; and son-in-law, Mr. Joe Formby.

She is survived by her son, Mr. Gary W. Cobia; daughter, Mrs. Marjan Formby; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Brandon Danes, Ms. Lacey Formby, Drs. Miles and Brytney Cobia, and Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Cobia; great grandchildren, Miss. Claire Snow Cobia, Master Liam Joseph Amburgy, and Master Carter Knight Cobia (To be born September 2020).

Pallbearers will be Gary Cobia, Brandon Danes, Dr. Miles Cobia, Ethan Cobia, Lt. Col. Randall Cain U.S. Army retired, and Alex Herrera.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Cherokee County Health and Rehab, Deans Pharmacy, Grandview Medical Center, Nurse Carlee, Hospitalist Dr. XU, Drs. Miles and Brytney Cobia, and others.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Children’s of Alabama.

The family will accept friends from 10:30a.m. until the hour of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
