Henderson grabs 1,000th rebound in Sand Rock win over Gadsden City

SAND ROCK – Lanie Henderson grabbed her 1,000th career rebound in leading the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 74-52 basketball victory over visiting Gadsden City on Tuesday.

Henderson scored 25 points and grabbed eight boards for Sand Rock (19-3). Caley Garrett added 13 points and five steals. Katelyn StClair delivered 12 points and five rebounds. Kennedy Henderson had 10 points. Haley Grace Lisenbee finished with four points and six assists.

Sand Rock plays Cherokee County in the County Tournament at Gadsden State Cherokee on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

In boys action, Sand Rock dropped a heartbreaker 74-73.

Jacob StClair led the Wildcats (12-10) with 27 points, including three 3-pointers. Kaden Justice rang for 22 points, including a pair of treys. Logan Crider contributed eight points. Ben Dale delivered seven points. His shot at the buzzer which would have given Sand Rock the win was waved off by the officials. Bradley Jackson finished with five points.

The Wildcat boys also take on Cherokee County on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Cherokee County Tournament.
