High Speed Pursuit In Floyd County Ends Safely In Cedar Bluff

What could have been a simple traffic stop in Floyd County ended in Cedar Bluff after the driver fled Floyd County Police Officers on Wednesday evening.

According to Floyd County Police, officers were running radar on Georgia Highway 20 near the state line when they clocked a Black Dodge Charger going 85 mph in a 55 mph zone and attempted to pull the vehicle over when the driver refused to stop and continued into Cherokee County where he was stopped by Cedar Bluff Police at the intersection of Highway 68 East and County Road 75.

Floyd County Police Officers at the scene told WEIS Radio News that the driver would have simply been issued a speeding ticket however he will now face Felony charges for Fleeing/Attempting to Elude, Speeding and Reckless Driving.

Warrants are expected to be filed against the driver in Floyd County. His name has not been released at this time.
