A man recently added to Cherokee County’s Most Wanted list has been captured by Cherokee County Authorities following a high speed chase on Wednesday.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, at approximately 9:00 p.m. that evening – Deputy Tyler Perea spotted 37 year old Danny Joe Segers on Alabama Highway 35 north of Gaylesville.

Perea attempted to stop Segers, who initially pulled to the side of the road then sped away, leading deputies in a pursuit for several miles with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. Segers braked sharply several times attempting to wreck deputies.

Segers continued to stop abruptly, causing Deputy Perea to strike the rear of his vehicle, which left the road and overturned in a deep ditch.

Segers was taken into custody and received medical treatment on the scene before being airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

Segers was discharged from the hospital and transported to the Hamilton County Detention Facility in Tennessee, where he awaits extradition back to Cherokee County.
