High Winds and Wet Ground Dropping Trees Across Cherokee County; Piedmont Hit Especially Hard

We’ve had report after report of trees being down all across Cherokee County on Thursday morning, with the Piedmont area being affected perhaps the most, suffering power outages and damage to homes due to fallen trees.

Crews have been out far and wide in Cherokee County removing downed trees from across roadways

We urge all motorists to slow down and exercise caution, especially in those lesser traveled areas and backroads where you may be the first to encounter road blockage.

The recent heavy rains, combined with the extremely strong winds, have resulted in a large number of problems occurring simultaneously.

We’re currently under a Wind Advisory until 7:00pm today.

the National Weather Service is calling for sustained winds of 15 to 25mph with gusts of 35 to 45mph possible.
