Highway 9 South Shutdown For Extended Period Due To Stalled 18 Wheeler That Spilled Oil On The Roadway

Alabama Highway 9 South near Providence Baptist Church was shutdown in both directions for an extended period on Friday afternoon after an 18 wheeler became stalled when his load shifted and punctured the cab of the truck. According to reports, the driver apparently had to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle in front on him when the load of metal he was hauling shifted and punctured the cab.

The impact also caused a significant amount of oil to spill onto the roadway. Cherokee County EMA Officials were called in to clean up the spill and a large wrecker was called to remove the vehicle from the road. Fortunately no one was injured. Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies and Ellisville Firefighters also responded.
