Etowah County authorities are investigating an apparent homicide in the Tidmore Bend Community.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, 34-year old Jamey Brent Williams of Gadsden was found dead inside his vehicle in the front yard of his residence at 608 Pope Road.

A 911 call was made Friday morning at approximately 9:30 from Williams’ employer stating Williams appeared to have been shot and did not have a pulse.

The employer went to Williams’s residence when he did not show up for work.

When deputies arrived on scene they discovered Williams had been shot in the head one time and once in the chest.

Witnesses, interviewed by investigators, say they heard gun shots earlier in the day at approximately 6:30 a.m.

A person of interest is in custody and is currently being interviewed by investigators. Additional details will be released as they become available.
