According to information released by Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff Mark Schrader, his office is investigating the death of Summerville man Eddie Lanham as a homicide. That investigation revealed that the victim appears to have died from gunshot wounds that were not self-inflicted.  Schrader says a number of individuals have been and continue to be interviewed – adding the initial investigation suggests the victim was the intended target of the crime.

Investigators continue to urge anyone with information concerning this incident to contact them at (706) 857-3411.

Further details will be released when information does not compromise the investigation.

Previously:

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader notified media outlets on Tuesday morning about a suspicious death.

Around 10:00pm Monday, Renee Lanham of Butler Dairy Road, in the northeastern portion of the county, called Chattooga 9-1-1 to report she had returned home to find her husband, Edward Earl “Eddie” Lanham, dead.  The sheriff said that investigators from his office responded to the call in the 1800 block of Butler Dairy Road and continued the investigation throughout the night.  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to assist local law enforcement officials in the investigation.
