A 77-year-old woman died in a house fire in the 1200 block of Abrams Road on Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.
Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor said Mary Blackburn was found lying across a bed she used in the living room of the home.
She appeared to have died from smoke from the fire, he said.
The house suffered extensive damage.
The call came into 911 officials around 4:30. The cause is still under investigation.
