You could say that Black Friday began a little earlier than usual in Centre on Thanksgiving Day.
A considerable number of shoppers showed up at the Centre Wal-Mart Store® on Thursday to take advantage of the bargains – WEIS Radio’s Jerry Baker braved the crowd to get these pictures as shoppers formed lines all throughout the store and right into the parking lot.
Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship had his department out in full force making sure everyone stayed safe and shopped in an orderly fashion.
As you venture out to do your holiday shopping this weekend we here at WEIS encourage you to shop locally this season – remember it just makes good sense to shop at home first because those tax revenues make a tremendous difference in the quality of services that can be offered by the cities and the county – to all county residents, both now and in the future.
Also, The Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama joined Governor Robert Bentley during a meeting in which he signed a proclamation formally declaring Saturday (November 29th) as “Small Business Saturday” in the state.
That event is designed to celebrate and support small business and the impact which it has on Alabama communities.
Remember, for every $100 spent at a local small business – $68 returns to the community.
