Increase of 701 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Across the State from Tuesday into Wednesday

The Alabama Department of Public Health information released on Wednesday (September 9th) – showed an increase of 701 cases of COVID-19 statewide bringing the running total of confirmed cases to 122,580 – while the confirmed death toll from coronavirus has reached a total of 2,161 since March 13th of this year.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 371 confirmed cases with another 86 being listed as “probable” and eleven deaths so far being attributed to the illness and one other listed as “probable” in that category. 

Of the 697 local individuals undergoing diagnostic testing over the last 14 days a total of 41 came back positive

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

  • Calhoun – 2,615 confirmed cases with 31 deaths;
  • Cleburne – 244 confirmed cases with 5 deaths;
  • DeKalb – 2,118 confirmed cases with 16 deaths;
  • Etowah – 2,810 confirmed cases with 42 deaths.
