Inmates at Etowah County Detention Center cause minor disruption on Monday.
Etowah County Sheriff Jonathan Horton said around 5:30pm several inmates in a housing unit attempted to take over the unit.
The unit was secured very shortly after the disruption started by corrections officers and patrol deputies.
There were no injuries to any staff or inmates. There was minor flooding and damage to the unit, but will not hold up any normal operations of the facility.
An investigation is underway at this time to determine the cause of the incident.
