IRS Scam Returns to Northeast Alabama and Northwest Georgia

Scam - Tax

It looks as though the IRS Scam has made an “unwelcome return” to northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia recently.

We’ve seen this one over and over again; someone claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service calls and tells the person they owe the IRS money and unless they pay immediately, they will have you arrested.

Now, the strange part is this – they’re saying you can pay using any of a variety of Gift Cards – including iTunes Gift Cards.

The scammers are apparently looking to get their hands on the elusive album “Jim Nabors Sings the Best of the Beach Boys”,  or whatever.  That’s certainly a new twist.

At any rate, we all know by now this isn’t legit.

If you DO owe the IRS anything, you’ll be contacted through certified mail and not by phone – text – or e-mail, etc., etc.

The IRS also does NOT threaten you with arrest; it simply doesn’t work that way.

If you receive such a call, just hang up and forget about it.

Another day.  Another scam.
