Is Sessions’ Looking to Regain Senate Seat?

Senator Richard Shelby told members of the media on Wednesday that the former Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, has not ruled out running for his old Senate seat next year.

Shelby told reporters he felt Sessions would be a formidable candidate.

Sessions who held his Senate seat for 20 years, declined to comment on questions about his plans, an assistant said.  Sessions resigned from the Senate in 2017 to join President Donald Trump’s Cabinet as AG.  Trump was known for berating Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Sessions, who was a high-profile supporter of Trump during the 2016 campaign, eventually resigned as Attorney General at Trump’s request.
