Jacksonville forfeits Friday’s football game with Piedmont due to COVID-19 concerns

Staff Reports

PIEDMONT – Piedmont High School announced via its Facebook page on Tuesday morning that Jacksonville has forfeited this week’s football game with the Bulldogs due to COVID-19 concerns. The game was to have been the Bulldogs’ homecoming this Friday.

It’s the second straight week Piedmont has had a team forfeit due to COVID-19. Class 3A, Region 5 opponent Weaver cancelled on the Bulldogs last week. That game was originally scheduled to have been Piedmont’s homecoming, which prompted school officials to push it to this week.

With the Jacksonville forfeit, Piedmont’s record improves to 5-0 on the season. According to the school’s Facebook post, Piedmont is currently looking for a replacement opponent for this week.

We will continue to follow developments as they happen.
