Jacksonville girls limit Lady Warriors’ treys in Class 4A, Area 10 title game

JACKSONVILLE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors were limited to just three 3-pointers in a 61-38 setback at Jacksonville in the Class 4A, Area 10 girls basketball championship game on Friday.

Mary Hayes Johnson led the No. 10 Lady Warriors (22-7) with 14 points, including a pair of treys. Audrey Green added 13 points, including a 7-of-7 performance from the free-throw line. Karlee Perry finished with five points, including a 3-pointer.

Kayla Broom topped Jacksonville with 21 points, including a 13-of-14 performance from the charity stripe. Amarie Curry collected 16 points. Rebekah Gannaway sank a pair of treys and came away with 12 points. Maggie Anderson finished with five points.

Jacksonville took a 21-11 first-quarter lead and held a 32-14 advantage at halftime. The Lady Golden Eagles led 39-26 after three quarters and went on a 22-12 run in the fourth for the final.

Cherokee County travels to top-ranked Anniston for subregional action on Monday. Jacksonville hosts Handley.
