Jacksonville Police Still Searching For Person Who Shot at Officer

Jacksonville Police are still investigating an incident occurring last Friday during which someone fired shots at an officer.

ABC 33/40 is reporting that an officer was on patrol at Henry Farm Park shortly after 9:00pm – and when he noticed an individual in the area, he started to approach him – however, that subject ran to the walking trail – with the officer following.

According to reports the man stood on one of the bridges turned and fired two shots at the officer – both of which, fortunately, missed.

Police immediately placed Jacksonville Regional Medical Center, which is nearby, on lockdown, as a result of the incident; Calhoun County deputies brought in a tracking dog which lead officers to a marshy area, where they lost the track.

A search helicopter brought in by Alabama State Troopers used thermal imaging equipment in an effort to find the man in the surrounding woods however they came up empty and the search was called off shortly after midnight.

That suspect was described as being between five-feet-seven and five-feet-nine in height – with a weight of approximately 140 pounds.
