Dr. Jeremy Deaton Joins Faculty at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine

Cherokee County Coroner Jeremy Deaton – owner of Deaton Veterinary Services, LLC – has recently joined the faculty at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine:

This will mean an expansion of classes, and student opportunities, in the near future:

I am particularly excited that Dr. Deaton can now serve the citizens of Alabama in the capacity of an Affiliate Faculty member at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University. He has been instrumental in the implementation of an Veterinary Service Learning and Outreach Course that is currently offered as an Elective to our second and third year veterinary student.

Through this course, the students gain a hands-on appreciation of the needs of vulnerable and/or underserved populations and learn how to provide quality veterinary medical care to the pets of these populations. Dr. Deaton brings to this course a compassionate yet practical perspective that is well appreciated.

Through our efforts, we have been able to decrease the population of unneutered and thus unwanted pets, decreased the likelihood of spread of transmissible infectious diseases and facilitated the deepening of the human/animal companion bond so vitally important to all pet owners.
