Joan Abernathy

Funeral Service for Joan Abernathy, 80, of Piedmont will be Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Mrs. Abernathy passed away Friday, February 08, 2019 at her home.

Survivors include two children, Amy Hilburn (Tracy) and Todd Pike all of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Lindsey Haygood (Mark) of Sand Rock and Lauryn Richardson

(Daniel) of Centre; six great grandchildren, Taylor Shubert, Trace Shubert, Nathan Haygood, Angelina Haygood, Aubrey Richardson, and Paisley Richardson; one sister, Charlette Morgan of Cave Spring; sister-in-law, Glenda Abernathy of Cambodia; and several nieces and nephews;

Pallbearers will be Daniel Richardson, Mark Haygood, Nathan Haygood, Trace Shubert, Hunter Cavender, and Bobby Pike.

Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs.Abernathy was a native of Frog Mountain, a resident of Piedmont most of

herlife, and was a member of Pleasant Arbor Baptist Church. She graduated from Spring Garden High School and retired from Federal Mogul.

She enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Abernathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hogue; parents, Robert and Floy Abernathy; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Robert Lee Mullinax; brother, David Abernathy; brother-in-law, Horace Morgan; and nephew, Greg Morgan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Hannah and Brooke with Amedysis Hospice for their amazing care, love, and support.
