John H. “Dub” Glass

John H. “Dub” Glass, son of the late Tom and Pairlee Glass, was born July 30, 1929 in Cherokee County, Leesburg, AL. He departed this life on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 11:AM Wednesday, November 14th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel.

He grew up in Cherokee County and attended the local school. He was united in marriage to Lola Mae Burks and to this union three sons were born.

He was inducted in the United States Army on October 19, 1951 until September 4, 1953 and served our country faithfully for 2 years.

After returning to Cherokee County, he began working in the floral business and continued to work in the capacity as a floral designer until his health failed. He was an outgoing person, who never met a stranger and their home was always the “go to” place for the people in the community.

John is preceded in death by his parents Tom & Pairlee, his wife Lola Mae, son George Frank, great grandson Geontae, 5 brothers – Tommie Lee, Ralph, Willie Floyd, Robert Lee, James “Jake”, and sister Mary Alice Southerlin.

He leaves to cherish and pass along his legacy to his children: Joel (Dannette), Alpharetta, GA and Keith, Centre. Grandchildren: Chris, Nicholas, Shalinda, Ashleigh, Latoya, Candace, Gerrick, Garvis. Great grandchildren: Jaton, Shaliyah, Cameron, JeBrelon, Emmie Rae, Gavin, Kavan, Luke, Tenzleigh, Kaslin, Olivia. Brothers: Grady (Collisia), Jerry (Margo), Los Angeles, CA, W.C(Karen), Rome, GA.
Brother & Sister in-laws: John Albert Woods, Jimmy & Gail Jacobs, Thomas & Constance Woods, Gus & Sharon Payne, Margaret Glass. Daughter-in-laws: Gwendolyn Cowser-Glass and Linda Glass Starr.

Special Cousins: Richard and Jovita Davis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
