JSU Football Player Troymaine Pope Injured in Shooting Incident

JSU - PopeJSU running back Troymaine Pope was injured during a shooting incident – outside AJ’s Sunset Grill – during the early hours of Sunday.

ABC 3340 is reporting that the 20 year old suffered a gunshot wound to his right bicep, as he ran for cover when shots broke out in the parking lot at around 5:20 that morning.

The injury was non-life threatening.

Pope, a graduate of Anniston High School – was gearing up for his second season at Jacksonville State University after having played in seven games last year as a freshman rushing for 245 yards and scoring one touchdown.

No arrests have been made in connection with Sunday’s incident – and that case remains under investigation.
