Juvenile Involved In Sunday Police Pursuit Facing Charges In Etowah & Cherokee Counties

A 17 year old that eluded Centre Police now faces multiple charges after he led authorities on a two-county chase that ended in an accident which injured three people Sunday.

Adam Kane Wright faces three counts of first-degree assault and one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries in Etowah County, Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship said that his department signed warrants on him on Tuesday.

Wright is being charged as an adult.

Blankenship said that Wright tried to evade a traffic stop in Centre after Officers Matt Peek and Will Clark tried to pull him over at the intersection of Stinson Street and County Road 71, as he fled Chief Blankenship said that tossed several Controlled Substances out of the window of the Nissan Maxima before the chase continued into Etowah County.

The vehicle driven by Wright collided with the rear of a pickup truck on County Road 71, before he fled into the woods where he was arrested.

The driver of the pickup, a woman with her 11-year-old and 19-year-old daughters, were all injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital.

The 19-year-old has fractures to her hands and injuries to her face. The 11-year-old had fractures, bruises and scratches. The mother underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair broken bones.
