Gov. Kemp To Order Shelter-In-Place, Closing Georgia Schools To Fight Coronavirus

Gov. Brian Kemp has announced that he will issue a shelter-in-place order tomorrow for the entire state of Georgia.

Speaking outside the the Georgia State Capitol on Wednesday, Kemp said that he would sign the order Thursday. The order would be in effect starting on Friday and continue until April 13.

Kemp said he would also be signing an order closing Georgia kindergarten and public schools for the rest of the academic year.

The new orders comes after the Georgia Department of Health confirmed more than 4,600 cases of coronavirus in the state. Health officials report 139 people have died and over 950 are hospitalized due to the the virus.
