Koch Foods Announces $80 Million Expansion to Gadsden Facility; 200 New Jobs Predicted

Koch Foods has announced an $80 million plant expansion in Gadsden.

With that expansion to their existing Gadsden complex, Koch Foods will operate one of the largest poultry processing plants in the U.S., adding approximately 30% to their production capacity.

Construction will begin this month (August, 2018), and will ultimately add some 200 jobs – 100 of those within the first year.

According to experts Etowah County will directly benefit $214,000 through sales and use tax during construction of the facility. In addition to the many new jobs generated, the local community will receive a boost through the $4.8 Million payroll of the facility that will turn over in the local economy, several times.  Education will receive the most significant impact with the State, County, and City schools systems receiving $4 Million over ten years. The City of Gadsden will receive $1 Million over ten years.

Mayor Sherman Guyton states he would like to thank Governor Ivey and her administration for their support of this project.

A project of this size will also provide job opportunities for those in surrounding areas.
