Lady Warriors 2nd Half Heartbreak Ends Season Against Fairview

Finding their way back to Jacksonville for the first time in nearly 7 years, the Lady Warriors of Cherokee County unfortunately see their season come to an end at JSU’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The #8 ranked Cherokee County girls (22-7) out of Class 4A took to things quickly here in the Northeast Regional Semis, but unfortunately a second half filled with fouls, missed opportunities, and emotional injuries resulted in the Fairview Lady Aggies (19-10) securing a 51-45 win.

Throughout the game, the big statistical leader for Cherokee County was Jordyn Starr, who finished the game with 14 points off 5-10 shooting (2-4 from 3, 2-6 FT), 7 rebounds (3 offensive, 4 defensive), and 1 block. Fairview’s win came off the back of several quality late performances, but a full game from Payton Golden (16 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals) and Daisy Manasco (11 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 steal) made some of the biggest impact towards the Lady Aggies eventual win.

With the loss, Cherokee County’s season does come to an unfortunate end, but all of us at WEIS want to congratulate the Lady Warriors on an incredibly built season up and down.

As for Fairview, they advance to the 4A Girls Northeast Regional Championship game to take on #7 Anniston on February 21st at 12:30 PM right back here at JSU. Congrats to Fairview in one of their first appearances in Northeast Regional action!
