Lady Warriors improve to 2-0 with 73-45 basketball victory over White Plains

CENTRE – Karlee Perry posted 19 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 73-45 basketball win over visiting White Plains on Friday.

Mary Hayes Johnson contributed 15 points for the Lady Warriors (2-0). Audrey Green added nine points. Sidney Johnson scored eight points. Carson Coley connected on a pair of treys and finished with six points.

Lily Ponder led White Plains with 15 points. Adriana Sotelo added eight points, including a pair of treys. Angel Bozarth added eight points and Callyn Martin finished with seven points.

Cherokee County led throughout the game. The Lady Warriors built a 22-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 39-22 advantage at halftime. Cherokee County extended its lead to 57-30 at the end of three quarters.

In the nightcap, the Warrior boys fell short in a 65-61 contest.

Connor Elrod topped the Warriors (0-2) with 15 points. Malachi Horton added 11 points. Jaden Wilson and Damien Ramsey both scored nine points. Nas Diamond finished with six points.

Quindarius Wilson and Jacob Wheeler both sank a pair of treys and finished with 16 points apiece to lead the Wildcats. Brody Baker added 11 points. Walker Osteen and Landon Senciboy both contributed seven points. Garrett Wilson finished with five points.

The game was tight throughout. White Plains held a 14-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors forged ahead 32-29 at halftime. The Wildcats went on a 23-11 run in the third quarter to take a 52-43 lead and held on down the stretch for the final.
