LaFayette Roper Plant Confirms Single COVID-19 Case

The LaFayette Roper plant has had a single employee test positive for COVID-19, according to the company.

Julie Wood, senior director of corporate communications for GE Appliances, said that the information was shared with the workforce at the plant and public health officials.  No other quarantines were required following contact tracing.

“Our first priority has been to modify our jobs and work spaces to allow for six feet of space between employees as they work,” Wood said.

The company has had numerous worker complaints over conditions at the 2,000-employee facility… and many signed a petition to close the plant during the COVID pandemic.

LaFayette’s SHAW plant reported two COVID cases a few weeks ago.  They have continued production after sanitizing the facility.
