Lamar Odom Opens Up for First Time About Brothel Incident

Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — More than a year after being found unconscious in a legal Nevada brothel, Lamar Odom is opening up about the past incident, his life now and more.

Odom had been using cocaine and sexual enhancement drugs in October 2015 when he was found by brothel employees and rushed to a nearby hospital, a police report stated at the time of the incident.

The former basketball star said Friday on The Doctors that the last thing he remembered before waking up in the hospital was “thinking I was going to just rest a bit.” He had been staying at a residence at the brothel.

“I wasn’t in a good place mentally … before the incident happened,” he told The Doctors‘ Travis Stork. “My wife at the time, we were going through some things,” he said of his ex Khloe Kardashian. Kardashian is now dating Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson, she’s said in various interviews.

After the hospital, Odom was moved to a rehabilitation facility to fully recover from the incident physically.

“I was in a dark place,” he said about that time. “I guess they say everything happens for a reason. So, I guess the reason is I’m here and I can tell the story.”

Odom was initially in a coma for days before opening his eyes and he told Stork he didn’t know it was that serious until Kardashian told him.

“I couldn’t even speak at the time, I couldn’t talk,” he added about his physical state. “I was scared.”

The interview ends with Stork asking Odom if he’s still using, but the show has chosen to hold the rest of the segment and the interview until after Odom allegedly finishes rehab, Stork told the audience. A request for comment or confirmation from Odom’s rep that he is in rehab has not been returned to ABC News.

The interview was conducted a few weeks back, according to Stork.
