Former Chattooga County businessman Larry Stansell will be sworn in as the mayor of the Town of Trion tonight (Monday, January 6th)
As the owner of Stansell Furniture & Appliance – where he spent more than 40 years running the family business – Stansell was known to practically everyone in the community and after closing down the store he decided to enter the mayoral race, running against Trion Coach Lanny Thomas in the November election.
When the votes were counted Stansell pulled out the victory by a margin of 22 votes – the former mayor, Johnny Ingle, choose not to run for re-election.
Tonight’s swearing in ceremony is open to the public and it will be held in the Conference Room at Trion Town Hall beginning at 6:00.
