Larry Wayne Bodily Found Guilty of Murder in 2017 Death of His Mother

Larry Wayne Bodily has been found guilty of murder in the death of his mother in February of 2017.  The Cherokee County jury returned that verdict after approximately a half-hour of deliberation.

Following the trial, we spoke to District Attorney Mike O’Dell:

68 year old Karen Willmon was reported missing on February 14th of 2017. 

Willmon’s body was found on February 19th in the garage of the home she shared with her son, where he had rolled it up in black plastic and placed it between a mound of scrap wood and the garage wall, following her death on February 13th.

According to testimony during this week’s trial she had been shot twice in the back and had suffered three serious wounds, fracturing her skull.

Sentencing has been set for January 8th, 2020. 

Bodily remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center.
