Latest COVID-19 Data from the Alabama Department of Public Health

The Alabama Department of Public Health information released Thursday (September 3rd) showed an increase of some 381 cases of COVID-19 statewide, bringing the running total of confirmed cases to 118,601 – with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 2,120 since March 13th of this year.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 354 confirmed cases with another 74 being listed as “probable” and eleven deaths so far being attributed to the illness and one other listed as “probable” in that category. 

Of the 408 local individuals undergoing diagnostic testing over the last 14 days a total of 43 came back positive

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

  • Calhoun – 2,447 confirmed cases with 31 deaths;
  • Cleburne – 222 confirmed cases with 5 deaths;
  • DeKalb – 2,080 confirmed cases with 15 deaths;
  • Etowah – 2,708 confirmed cases with 42 deaths.

The number of presumed recoveries statewide currently stands at 11,154.
