Latest Data from the ADPH Regarding COVID-19 Cases Statewide and Locally

The Alabama Department of Public Health numbers released Monday, August 24th, showed an increase of 675 cases of coronavirus statewide, bringing the cumulative total to 110,769 with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 1,950 since March 13th of this year.

The state has administered 294,782 COVID-19 tests over the past two weeks with 11,279 of those yielding positive results and has listed a total of 44,684 presumed recoveries thus far.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 336 confirmed cases with another 41 being listed as “probable” with nine deaths now being attributed to the illness; one other being listed as “probable” in that category. 

Out of the 580 tests being administered locally over the past 14 days there were 60 positive results.

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

Calhoun – 2,168 confirmed cases with 23 deaths;

Cleburne – 182 confirmed cases with 4 deaths;

DeKalb – 1,996 confirmed cases with 14 deaths;

Etowah – 2,551 confirmed cases with 37 deaths.
