The Alabama Department of Public Health data released on Thursday, August 13th showed an increase of 695 cases over Wednesday, which brings the state’s running total to 101,496 – with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 1,821.
Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 288 confirmed cases with another 32 being listed as “probable” and one death being attributed to the illness, bringing the total to eight – with one other listed as “probable” in that category.
Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:
Calhoun – 1,853 confirmed cases with 19 deaths;
Cleburne – 130 confirmed cases with 1 death;
DeKalb – 1,866 confirmed cases with 14 deaths;
Etowah – 2,209 confirmed cases with 34 deaths.
The total number of people, who at one point had to be hospitalized, stands at 12,292.
The number of presumed recoveries statewide currently stands at 41,523.
