Latest Data on COVID-19 Cases Statewide and Locally

The Alabama Department of Public Health number released Monday, August 17th – showed the state’s cumulative total standing at 104,595 with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 1,855 since March 13th of this year.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 306 confirmed cases with another 34 being listed as “probable” and one death being attributed to the illness, bringing the total to eight – with one other listed as “probable” in that category. 

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

Calhoun – 1,936 confirmed cases with 21 deaths;

Cleburne – 134 confirmed cases with 1 death;

DeKalb – 1,899 confirmed cases with 14 deaths;

Etowah – 2,292 confirmed cases with 35 deaths.

The total number of people, who at one point had to be hospitalized, stands at 12,958.

The number of presumed recoveries statewide currently stands at 41,523.
