Latest Numbers from the ADPH Regarding COVID-19 Counts Locally and Statewide

The Alabama Department of Public Health information released Tuesday (September 8th) – showed an increase of some 405 cases of COVID-19 statewide, bringing the running total of confirmed cases to 121,879 – with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 2,153 since March 13th of this year.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 367 confirmed cases with another 86 being listed as “probable” and eleven deaths so far being attributed to the illness and one other listed as “probable” in that category. 

Of the 696 local individuals undergoing diagnostic testing over the last 14 days a total of 45 came back positive

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

  • Calhoun – 2,602 confirmed cases with 31 deaths;
  • Cleburne – 239 confirmed cases with 5 deaths;
  • DeKalb – 2,114 confirmed cases with 16 deaths;
  • Etowah – 2,784 confirmed cases with 42 deaths.
