Latest On Road Conditions, All Cherokee County Roads Are Open However Caution Is Advised

As you travel throughout the day today you may encounter some icy conditions especially on secondary roadways however, according to Cherokee County 911 all Cherokee County roads ARE open but it is advised that you use extreme caution.

  • All roads in the city of Anniston are closed at this time
  • ALL Municipal streets in the City of Oxford are now CLOSED due to unsafe driving conditions.
  • All roads in the City of Jacksonville are now closed, per Jacksonville Police Dept.
  • In DeKalb County – All county roads are considered hazardous at this time. Travel is not advised

Just across the state line in Chattooga County, Sheriff Mark Shrader says that most all roads in the county are in great shape at this time. Several of the secondary roads have light snow and a few patches of ice on them.

Roads in the Cloudland area seem to be more affected. All roads are passable with caution. Remember, as traffic slows and the temps stay below freezing the roads, for late night and early morning travel, may be slick. Drive slow and watch other drivers.

In Floyd County, ice has been reported on Highway 53, Ward Mountain Road, Highway 140 at Buttram Road and Gadsden Road and Alabama Street in Cave Spring.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has been notified, according to 911 and trucks are out treating the roads.

We also got reports of slick sports southbound on Rockmart Highway just past Pleasant Valley Road, Calhoun Road near Model High School and most bridges.

Primary (State Highways) – RIGHT LANE ONLY will be treated, Bridges and overpasses will be treated, Secondary Roads will NOT BE TREATED.
