Latest Road Conditions in Cherokee County

Road Conditions 1We spoke with County Engineer Corey Chambers shortly after 6:00am Monday, and he told us that at this time, the only real major concerns remain County Road 80 near the Georgia line, where water is over the roadway and County Roads 535 and 144 near Harton’s store in the Cedar Bluff area – where those two roads will likely be under water for quite some time due to the proximity of the lake.

Motorists should also be cautious, when traveling County Road 5 in the Pollard’s Bend area, where the road is down to one lane after a pipe blew out on Saturday; Chambers said it was one of the large 96″ pipes – which is having to be ordered. He says the road could remain at a single-lane for the next few days, until repairs can be made, and they are doing everything they can to speed the process up.

Chambers added that all-in-all, the roads that were temporarily closed have cleared quickly but stresses that motorists should still exercise caution, especially in lesser-traveled areas.
