Latest Update From The National Weather Service On Hurricane Sally

OVERVIEW: Hurricane Sally has made landfall and is slowly moving northeast
and will move across South-Central Alabama this afternoon and overnight.
Several impacts are expected, primarily concentrated across the southern
half of our forecast area.

CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS FORECAST: Minor adjustments to timing and location.

HIGHLIGHTS:
*WIND: 
*When: Today
*Where: Generally along and south of a line from Geiger to Centreville to Lafayette.
*What: Sustained 15-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph
*Breezy elsewhere

TORNADO: 
*When: This afternoon and evening (Noon to 11 pm)
*Where: Generally along and  southeast of the Interstate 85 corridor.
*What: Marginal risk for a few brief tornadoes.

FLOODING: 
*When: Today through Thursday morning
*Where: Highest totals generally along and southeast of a line from Selma to Anniston.
*What: Rainfall totals of 4"-8" with locally higher amounts. Significant flash flooding possible and a 
Flash Flood Watch in effect.  
*River flooding risk is primarily along the Alabama and Tallapoosa River
Basins and their tributaries.
