Law Enforcement Responds to Report of “Shots Fired” Friday Morning in Sand Rock; Suspect in Custody

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office personnel and other local law enforcement agencies responded to a call of “shots fired” just prior to 10:00am Friday.

Officers quickly arrived at the location along Highway 68 West in the Sand Rock area, where a subject briefly barricaded himself inside a residence; according to Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford that incident began when a crew attempted to repossess a vehicle; 46 year old John Crow of Collinsville was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substances (two counts) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (two Counts) in connection with the situation.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office was also on the scene – the subject was reportedly wanted on warrants for failure to appear on a prior charge of trafficking.

Fortunately, it appears no one was hurt during the disturbance; Crow is being held without bond.
