Leesburg Council Replaces Stolen Dump Truck

The Leesburg Town Council voted Monday night to replace its dump truck, which was recently stolen.

Mayor Ed Mackey explained why it was a good idea to purchase another truck instead of contracting the work.

Also Monday night, the council voted to spend money from the recent sale of a surplus van to purchase new computer equipment for the police department.

Police Chief Lanny Ransum spoke about the new computer tablets.

In other action, the council voted to continue an agreement with Jacksonville State University for Forensic Sciences and approved the purchase new basketball goals for the ball fields for just over 22-hundred dollars.
