Leesburg Fire Chief Jeremy Lee Named New Centre Fire Chief

During the regular City Council meeting Tuesday the City Council approved the hiring of Jeremy Lee as Fire Chief for the City effective December 4th. He is currently employed as a Lieutenant with the Oxford Fire Department and serves as Fire Chief at Leesburg.

The City addressed a flooding problem on First Avenue by authorizing a property survey of land associated with the problem. The Council also discussed the flooding issue along Park Street. It has been determined a drainage culvert is clogged and needs to be cleaned out.

The Council authorized the Mayor to obtain a new computer system for the City Hall at an expense not to exceed $15000. The current system is outdated and is subject to crashing at anytime.

The Council approved the WEIS Radio Marketing Campaign for November and December addressing the need to Shop At Home.

The Council and Mayor discussed a problem with 18 wheel trucks going too fast through the City. Recently a truck damaged a light pole when it went out of control and run upon a curb. The Mayor is encouraging all big rig drivers to take the By-Pass as it is designated as the truck route through the city. Only local deliveries should bring the 18 wheel rigs downtown. All others are encouraged to use the Truck Route.
