Leesburg Man Arrested After Stealing A Car From John’s Crossroads

A Leesburg man was arrested on Thursday after stealing a car at a location at John’s Crossroads.

According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford the incident occurred on Wednesday. 

Cedar Bluff Police Chief Chris O’Neal said that the vehicle was located on Lakeplace Lane but the suspect was able to leave Cedar Bluff by the time the victim had called 9-1-1.

Leesburg Police Investigator Jamie Chatman located the vehicle parked behind a residence on County Road 44 in Leesburg on Thursday and took the suspect into custody. Police said that at the time of his arrest the suspect was under the influence of Narcotics. He had to be evaluated by medics prior to being taken to jail.

25 year old Cody Shayne Thompson of Leesburg was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Theft of Property 1st Degree and is being held on a $5000 bond.
